Digitisation and the internet have caused new forms of creativity and collaborative activity to become important. Many creators have come to the conclusion that they do not want or need copyright – that it is empowering to allow people to freely access and re-use their works.
Many projects have also realised the potential of the internet to allow large geographically dispersed groups to work constructively together. We want to explore how technology can be used to foster a more open and more inclusive culture. We want to think of alternatives to copyright and intellectual property rights and how a thriving cultural sphere that furthers both the well-being of creators as well as of society can be achieved.
